This vegan milkshake is the perfect afternoon treat. It’s creamy, rich, super easy to make, and perfect for summer. 5 minutes is all you need!
Why This Recipe Works
The frozen bananas are the perfect base. They make this dairy-free milkshake super creamy without adding much sugar or calories.
The vegan vanilla ice cream adds some nice sweetness and vanilla flavor to this recipe, which is even intensified by the vanilla extract.
And because chocolate and vanilla are such a great combination, I also added cocoa powder.
To make this shake vegan, I used almond milk instead of cow’s milk. Soy or oat milk also works well.
Vegan whipped cream and vegan chocolate sauce bring this shake to the next level!
What Goes Into This Recipe
- Frozen Bananas – cut the bananas into slices and freeze them overnight
- Cocoa Powder – use unsweetened
- Almond Milk – you could also use oat or soy milk
- Maple Syrup – agave would also work (or leave it out completely)
How To Make This Recipe
1. Step: Place all ingredients into a high speed blender.
2. Step: Process until smooth. Serve immediately.
Recipe Notes
- Make sure to use ripe bananas. They should have a few brown spots on the outside.
- I recommend using a high speed blender for this shake. I usually use my Vitamix.
- The milkshake is great on its one, but it’s even better with vegan whipped cream and vegan chocolate sauce drizzled on top.
More Flavors
- Berry– add a few frozen raspberries or strawberries and leave out the cocoa powder
- Cookie – add two Oreos or vegan chocolate chip cookies and sprinkle some cookie crumbles on top of the milkshake
- Peanut Butter – add half a cup of peanut butter
- Mango – add one cup of frozen mango and leave out the cocoa powder

Ingredients
For the milkshake:
- 4 frozen bananas (cut into slices)
- 1 cup vegan vanilla ice cream
- 2 teaspoons cocoa powder
- 2 cups almond milk
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup

Possible toppings:
- vegan whipped cream
- vegan chocolate sauce
- chopped dark chocolate
