Pumpkin Smoothie – Recipes Notes:
- You can achieve the best results by using a high speed blender for this pumpkin smoothie. I used my Vitamix and it came out super creamy and silky.
- I tried this recipe with homemade pumpkin puree as well as canned pumpkin puree. It didn’t surprise me that the one with homemade puree was much better! Usually, I just make a big batch in my Instant Pot and freeze it for later. Just let it sit on the counter overnight or for at least a few hours to defrost. You could also add it to the blender when it’s still frozen. However, this way your pumpkin smoothie will have a different texture and you also don’t have to add ice cubes. Check out these step-by-step instructions for making homemade pumpkin puree if you haven’t made it before.
- I listed the spices for this pumpkin smoothie (ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves) separately. If you want you could, however, also just use store-bought pumpkin spice.
- If you want this smoothie to be more refreshing, you can use a frozen banana instead of one at room temperature.

Great recipe. I increased the spices a little, only used 2 dates so I could add a little maple syrup – about a tbsp. Very nice! Thanks Sina! :-)

Just tried this. It was delicious!!
lesley
is the pumpkin puree just whizzed up raw pumpkin?
Sina
Hi Lesley,
I’m so sorry for the late reply. No, it’s actually cooked pumpkin that is pureed.

Thank you for this idea for a smoothie! I have been wanting to try silken tofu in a smoothie and finally tried it yesterday. I used pumpkin, sweet potatoes, mixed berries and soy milk with spices. It was very tasty and creamy, though the berries make the color a bit off!
Sina
Glad you like it! This sounds like a great smoothie! :-)

Looks amazing, Sina. I love pumpkin smoothies, but yours looks extra yellow and inviting :)
Sina
Thanks, Audrey! :-) It was the first time I’ve ever tried a pumpkin smoothie and I absolutely loved it. I should have tried that waaaay earlier!!

Could I use full fat coconut milk from can? I don’t have almond milk
Sina
Hi Kelly, Sure! I don’t see why this wouldn’t work. It will be a bit different and richer in calories with full fat coconut milk, but I’m sure it will also be super delicious! :-) I love using coconut milk for smoothies, but I usually only use the thin milk and save the thick part for curries etc. Let me know how it turned out. ;-)

What a great looking, nutritious and delicious smoothie! Will definitely try it!
