    Why This Recipe Works

Are you looking for a refreshing and healthy drink for hot days? Then look nur further than our heavenly mango smoothie recipe! With the perfect blend of ripe mango, tangy orange juice, creamy coconut yogurt, and the natural sweetness of bananas, this smoothie is the ultimate pick-me-up for any time of the day. And it’s also a great hit with kids!

You need only six ingredients for this smoothie. Five if you’re not counting the ice cubes that you probably have in your freezer anyways. An easy treat that is ready in only 5 minutes!

The ripe mango provides it with a sweet tropical taste that instantly lifts up your mood. The tangy orange juice adds a zesty kick while the coconut yogurt gives it a velvety texture and a subtle hint of coconut that perfectly goes with the mango flavor.

To make this smoothie extra smooth and velvety, I added a banana which also serves as a natural sweetener. And let’s not forget about the ice cubes that make this smoothie perfect for hot summer days!

The mango smoothie is not only incredibly delicious but also super healthy. Mangoes are rich in antioxidants and vitamins and orange juice is the perfect source of vitamin C. Bananas provide you with potassium and fiber.

So if you’re looking for a light and refreshing breakfast option, an afternoon pick-me-up on hot days, our a post-workout drink, this mango smoothie is a must-try! It’s a wholesome and nourishing drink that will leave you feeling energized and happy.

So grab you blender and whip up this tropical treat in no time!

    Ingredients & Substitutions

ingredients for a mango smoothie on a marble countertop with labels
    • Plant-Based Milk – I recommend using unsweetened almond milk, but the recipe also works with soy or oat milk.
    • Plant-Based Yogurt – I love to use unsweetened coconut yogurt for this recipe. It adds a subtle coconut flavor that perfectly goes with the mango. But the recipe also works with soy yogurt.
    • Orange Juice – either use fresh orange juice or a good quality.
    • Ice Cubes – they make this smoothie even more refreshing

    How to Make This Recipe

bananas, mango, ice cubes, and almond milk in a blender

    1. Step: Place all of the ingredients in a blender.

    2. Step: Process until smooth. Fill the mango smoothie into two glasses and enjoy!

    Tips & Tricks

    • If you want a thicker smoothie that resembles a milk shake, you can use two frozen bananas instead of one at room temperature.
    • Add the juice of one lime for a zesty and refreshing kick.
    • Make sure you’re using a ripe mango for this smoothie. It should be soft and it should have a sweet smell.

    Variations

    Pineapple

For a tropical version, you could add some pineapple to your mango smoothie. I prefer to use frozen pineapple.

Add one cup of frozen pineapple.

    Strawberry Mango

Strawberries and mango are another great combination. You could either use fresh strawberries or frozen ones.

    Add one cup of strawberries.

a glass of mango smoothie garnished with lime wedges and fresh mint

    Storing

Stored in an airtight bottle, this smoothie will last for 1-2 days in the fridge. But it tastes much better fresh right after blending

    Freezing

You can freeze this smoothie for up to 3 months. Let it thaw overnight in the fridge and then quickly blend it again for the perfect consistency.

How To Tell If A Mango Is Ripe

It’s very important to use a ripe mango for this smoothie. Sometimes it can be a bit tricky to tell if a mango is ripe or not.

    Here are some great tips:

    • Don’t fixate on the color. A red hue is not necessarily a sign that a mango is ripe. It just shows how much sun exposure it had.
    • When the mango is ripe, it will have a strong and sweet smell.
    • Gently squeeze it. It should be soft but not too soft (then it will be overripe).
    • It helps to put it in a paper bag to speed up the ripening process.

I made this mango smoothie for my toddler and myself and we absolutely loved it! Kind of reminded me of creamsicles! :-)
