As it’s still pretty hot in Germany, we had green smoothie popsicles today instead of our daily green smoothie. Now that the worst part of my final exams is over, I will finally stop complaining about the heat and actually enjoy the rest of the summer. :-) I heard on the news that this is the hottest July since the weather record began, so I guess it’s definitely ice cream time! I’ve always loved to make popsicles. It’s easy, cheap, and sooo convenient. As a child, I often used yogurt or juice to make homemade popsicles, but the green smoothie popsicles were even better.
For the top, I used frozen raspberries, red currants, and chia seeds, which I put in a food processor together with some water. The rest of the popsicle is made of a tropical green smoothie with spinach, banana, pineapple, kiwi, orange, and passion fruit. I also added some more chia seeds, flax seeds, and sesame seeds, so the green smoothie popsicles are filled with tons of essential nutrients! I added only two dates and for me the popsicles were sweet enough, but if you want to have it sweeter just add more dried dates or figs. With the recipe below you can make about 12 popsicles and you still got some green smoothie left to drink.
