    This frozen banana ice cream is our go-to frozen dessert over the summer months. We make it almost every day with different twists. It’s just perfect to satisfy those sweet cravings!

    Prepare to be blown away by the magic of frozen banana ice cream. Made from just frozen bananas, this ice cream is a healthy and simple alternative to traditional ice cream.

    All you need are frozen bananas and a high speed blender. Blend it up, and the bananas will transform into creamy and dreamy ice cream that you can customize to your personal liking.

    Try swirling in some peanut butter or sprinkle it with chopped dark chocolate or cinnamon. Or blend it with frozen berries or mango for a burst of flavor.

    The bananas are naturally sweet on their own, so you don’t need any additional sugar. And making this recipe is a real breeze. Plus, it’s naturally vegan and gluten-free. In less than 5 minutes, you’ll have a bowl of creamy and delicious ice cream ready to enjoy.

    What Goes Into This Recipe

    You need only one ingredient for this recipe – frozen bananas!

    How To Make This Recipe

    1. Step: Cut four large and ripe bananas with brown spots in slices (about 1 inch thick).

    2. Step: Place them in a ziplock bag and freeze overnight or for at least 2-3 hours.

    3. Step: Place the frozen bananas in a high speed blender.

    4. Step: Process until smooth and creamy.

    Tips & Tricks

    • You need a powerful motor to effectively blend frozen fruit like frozen bananas. So I highly recommend using a high speed blender for this recipe.
    • You can make it easier for your blender by cutting the bananas into thin slices and add 1-2 tablespoons of plant-based milk.
    • Slice the bananas into 1-inch slices and freeze them overnight in a ziplock bag. If they stick together, use a sharp knife to cut them into large chunks before blending them. Or arrange them in a single layer on a baking sheet without touching each other, so they can freeze without sticking together.
    • Make sure to use ripe bananas for this recipe. The riper the banana is, the sweeter this ice cream will be.

    Freezing Leftovers

    We usually don’t have any leftovers when we make this frozen banana ice cream because it’s just so good. However, if you do happen to have leftovers, you can freeze them for up to 2 months.

    The banana ice cream has a “soft serve” consistency right after blending that it will lose when being frozen. It will get a harder, scoop-able consistency that resembles regular ice cream.

    Variations

    Chocolate

    Add 2 tablespoon of cocoa powder before blending and stir in half a cup of roughly chopped dark chocolate or dark chocolate chips after blending.

    Cinnamon

    Add two teaspoons of ground cinnamon before blending. I also like to add 2-3 tablespoons of cocoa nibs after blending.

    Peanut Butter

    Add 1/2 cup of natural peanut butter before blending and sprinkle the ice cream with roughly chopped peanuts and dark chocolate before serving.

    Cookie

    Stir in 1/2 cup roughly chopped Oreo cookies or other vegan cookies after blending.

    Fruity

    Blend the frozen bananas together with 1 cup of frozen raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, or mango.
