It’s really hot in Germany right now, so Flo and I decided that it would be the perfect time to start a four-day smoothie detox fast. As a healthy afternoon treat we enjoyed this easy berry chia pudding with kiwi and apricots today. Usually I use almond milk to make chia pudding, but this fruity version was really yummy and super easy, so I wanted to share the recipe with you guys. I used frozen berries and let the chia seeds soak in the fridge, so the berry chia pudding was really refreshing. We only topped it with fresh strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries, but granola and nuts are also great.
We’re already on our second day of the detox fast and I can’t believe how great I’m feeling. As I’m pretty much always hungry (I’m known for constantly hiding little snacks in my purse), I thought I would be graving pasta and carbs in general, which would result in me being grumpy all the time. But actually the opposite happened. I’m in a really good mood and I’m feeling full of energy. It was a bit harder for Flo to only have a green smoothie for breakfast, as he’s used to his big bowl of granola and fruit in the morning. But after his “rough” start, he’s feeling much better now. For lunch, we had a big salad with tomatoes, cucumber, red bell pepper, and carrots. As we decided to only eat fruits and veggies during our fast, we didn’t want to use any oil or vinegar for the dressing. Instead we blended one avocado together with parsley and spinach, which wasn’t bad at all. For dinner we had another green smoothie with spinach, kohlrabi leaves, and fruit.
I don’t know if I already lost some weight because our scale is not working, but my belly feels a bit flatter than usual. But as losing weight wasn’t really our intention, this is just a nice side-effect. ;-) We rather tried this detox fast to cleanse our body and feel healthier and lighter afterwards. Have you ever gone on a fast and what were your experiences?
