    Why This Recipe Works

This watermelon smoothie will transport you to a tropical paradise in just one sip. It’s the perfect pick-me-up treat on hot summer days! It’s super easy to make, vegan, and so delicious. 5 minutes is all it takes!

I used frozen watermelon for this smoothie, which makes it super refreshing and hydrating. It’s naturally sweet without any additional sugar.

This recipe really works like a charm and it’s one of our favorite summer drinks. Plus, it’s also a great hit with kids.

Thanks to its natural sweetness and high water content watermelon is the perfect base for this smoothie. The coconut yogurt adds a creamy texture and a hint of tropical coconut flavor, while the lime juice adds a burst of freshness and a tangy twist that goes really well with watermelon flavor.

And let’s not forget about the fresh mint that also adds a refreshing touch. The frozen strawberries not only contribute to the smoothie’s sweetness but also add a rich and velvety texture. The strawberry flavor is not too overpowering, so the watermelon is still the star of this smoothie.

So if you’re looking for a healthy breakfast, a post-workout drink, or a delicious afternoon treat, this watermelon smoothie is a must-try! So grab your blender, gather the ingredients, and give it a try!

    Ingredients & Substitutions

ingredients for this recipe on a marble countertop
    • Almond Milk – You could also use soy or oat milk. Make sure it’s unsweetened.
    • Plant-Based Yogurt – I used unsweetened coconut yogurt. The subtle coconut flavor goes really well with the watermelon. However, you could also use unsweetened soy yogurt instead.
    • Watermelon – cut into slices or cubes and frozen.
    • Lime Juice – use fresh lime juice. It really makes a difference.
    • Mint – fresh mint leaves.

    2. Step: Place all of the ingredients in a blender.

    3. Step: Blend until smooth. Use the pulse function a couple of times. If you want a thinner smoothie, add more almond milk or a bit of water.

    Tips & Tricks

    • Personally, I love a cold and slushy smoothie, so I used frozen watermelon. If you don’t want it to be this cold, you could also use watermelon from the fridge. Or use more almond milk.
    • It’s also great with a bit of vanilla flavor. Either use vanilla-flavored coconut yogurt or add a bit of vanilla extract.
    • If you want this smoothie to be even creamier, you could add a banana. But please note that the banana flavor will be more pronounced.

    Storing

This smoothie is best served fresh after blending. However, you could store it in an airtight bottle in the fridge for up to 2 days.

    Blender

As you’re using frozen fruits, I recommend using a high speed blender for the best results. I personally love my Vitamix.

    Quick Version

I usually prefer frozen watermelon as it makes this smoothie super refreshing. If you don’t have enough time to freeze the watermelon, you could also make this shake with crushed ice instead.

However, the smoothie will have a much thinner consistency and it won’t be as creamy. It will be more like a juice.
